Despite only just celebrating its first birthday Leigh Judo Club now have even more to celebrate. At the weekend Leigh Judo Club travelled to Kendal to attend their first regional competition as a club and returned with 4 silvers and 2 bronze medals. Considering all of its 110 members being completely new to judo, the club is already establishing a strong pathway for success.
Having been nominated for 2013 Wigan Borough ‘Club of the Year’, the London 2012 inspired club is already considered the premier judo club in the area. Coached by Wigan Borough ‘Coach of the Year’ winner and former GB International 3rd Dan, Luke Brown, the club looks destined for future success.

Head Coach Luke Brown said “I am really proud of the whole team, they overcame their nerves and have achieved something they never would have thought of when they started. The competition has provided a great opportunity to build their confidence and experience. Considering all of team had never tried judo before 12 months ago, it just shows how hard they’ve worked and how far they’ve come. They’re a great testament to the club!”
